“Fur? I’d rather go naked” -P.E.T.A.

20 04 2009

P.E.T.A (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is a group that has been around since the 1980s. In the beginning, the group did not get much support, however in recent years they have boosted their campaigns to a new level of advertisement. Now they are beginning to use celebrities in their campaigns. Celebrities such as Carmen Electra, Pamela Anderson, Audrina Patridge from The Hills, and most recently, Khloe Kardashian.

Recently, P.E.T.A. created an ad for the superbowl with their campaign entitled ‘Veggie Love’. However, NBC labeled the commercial too sexual and it was not shown.  This is not the first ad by P.E.T.A. that was banned for being overly suggestive.  The link above allows you to view the previously banned ads.

The obvious goal of the organization is to make the ethical treatment of animals look sexy and appealing.  Some might as whether or not they go to far with their attempt.  But in any case, they definitely get the attention of the public and get a great deal of publicity.  As the saying goes, “sex sells!”.  They definitely have this ideal under their belt.
