Slumdog Millionaire Hits Home for Many

12 04 2009

Originally produced as a low budget film, the movie Slumdog Millionaire caused the box office to skyrocket.  The movie was released in a very conservative way being that it was out on DVD before it was in the theaters.  After critics raved over the film, it was nominated for a total of 10 academy awards including:

  • Best picture
  • Best director
  • Best adapted screenplay
  • Best film editing
  • Best sound mixing
  • Best cinematography
  • Best original score
  • Best original song
  • Best writing
  • Best sound editing

For a low budget film, it really did pull its way to the top.  The movie nestled into the hearts of many around the world.  The plot is about a young boy who is growing up in the slums of Mumbai.  He goes on a series of what could be called “travels” throughout his life which together help him win the television game show called Who Wants to be a Millionaire.  The airing of the show helps him find his childhood love, Latika.

I recommend this movie to anyone and everyone.
